Thanks for visiting my
website.
My name is Kieran John and I'm
a triathlete, for those of you who don't know what a triathlete is, we're the
crazy people who go for a swim (in a pool, a river, a lake or the sea), then
jump soaking wet onto our bikes and go for a ride, then just to top it all off
after the bike ride, we go for a run....Nice!
All joking aside, triathlon is a great sport for people of all abilities, from
complete novices to Olympic athletes.
If you take a look around my site you can see which events I'll be racing this
year and my results, hopefully I'll be able to write race reports for most of my
events (because results alone don't give the full picture) and they'll be
available for you to read. You can also follow me on
Twitter.
About Me
I’m 17 years old
and live in Neath in South Wales. I'm currently studying for my AS levels at
Neath Port Talbot College.
I started racing at the age of 71/2 in the Tri-star start
category, my first race didn’t go exactly to plan, the swim went well, then came
transition. I remember running out of first transition with my bike, my head
through the sleeve of my vest and my arm through the neck! Never mind, I enjoyed
it and have been hooked on triathlon ever since.
Things have moved on a little since then, In 2006 I was Welsh Triathlon champion
for the Tri Star 2 age category
(11 - 12 yr old) and represented Wales at the
inter regional championships in Glasgow. This year I'll again be racing for the U.K.'s
largest sponsored racing team, namely Team Tri U.K.
I'm a member of the Welsh Triathlon academy
squad which is coached by Richard Brady (Welsh
performance development coach) and ex elite female Olympic triathlete Andrea Whitcombe
(assistant performance development coach).
Whilst my main
sport is Triathlon, I also race Aquathlons (swim and run) and I also race in
single sport events.
I swim for Neath A.S.C., run both track and cross country for Neath Harriers
A.C. and cycle with Port Talbot Wheelers cycling club.
I'd like to take
this opportunity to thank all my coaches, both past and present for all their
help and guidance in steering me towards my triathlon goals.
Outside of my triathlons I'm currently training for a JAR-FCL private pilots license with Cambrian Flying club based at Swansea airport. You can follow my flying experiences by clicking on the Flying Tab or here.
